According to reports, Manchester United are in talks with Crystal Palace over a deal to sign Jack Butland as a short-term fix for their goalkeeping problems. United's No. 1 goalkeeper David De Gea's contract expires in the summer and a decision on an extension has not yet been made. In the meantime, United are without a reliable back-up following Newcastle's recall of Martin Dubravka from his season-long loan. Jack Butland, a 29-year-old goalkeeper with experience at Stoke, Birmingham, and Crystal Palace, has not played a single match this season. His contract with the Eagles is set to expire in the summer, and the team is willing to let him go as he has fallen behind Vicente Guaita and Sam Johnstone on the depth chart. Manchester United is reportedly in talks with Palace to sign Butland as a back-up goalkeeper at Old Trafford for a small fee.
United manager Erik ten Hag is also reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach's Yann Sommer, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season, but Gladbach manager Daniel Farke has warned that the club has "no intention of letting him go."
