Fantasy football is a popular game that allows players to create and manage their own virtual teams made up of real-life football players. These virtual teams then compete against each other based on the performances of the real-life players in actual football matches. We've all heard of Fantasy Premier League, but what about GLOBAL Fantasy Football?
One of the newer entries into the fantasy football space is Sorare, a platform that uses blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to create player cards that represent individual football players.
These player cards are built on the Ethereum blockchain and are classified as NFTs, which means they are unique digital assets that cannot be exchanged for other tokens or assets on a one-to-one basis. In other words, each player card is a one-of-a-kind item that is owned by a specific individual.
One of the key features of Sorare player cards is that they are based on actual football players. Each card is a digital representation of a real player, complete with their stats, performance data, and other relevant information. This allows players to create teams that are based on the actual abilities and potential of real-life football players. Much like popular fantasy games like Fantasy Premier League, their performance in real games count towards your score in each gameweek, with everything from possession lost to big chances created having an impact on the player scores.
In addition to being able to create and manage virtual teams, Sorare players can also collect, trade, and sell their player cards on the Sorare marketplace. This adds an element of collectibility to the game, as players can try to acquire rare or high-performing player cards to boost their chances of success in the virtual league.
In the Sorare fantasy football game, player cards are classified according to different levels of scarcity. These levels of scarcity are used to indicate the rarity and availability of a particular player card, and can have a significant impact on the value of the card.
There are 5 main levels of scarcity:
Common - unlimited supply, used only in the free-to-play version of the game.
Limited - 1000 cards per season of each player - yellow in colour. Used in the limited divisions.
Rare - 100 cards per season of each player, useable in the Rare & Rare Pro divisions, and are Red in colour.
Super Rare - 10 cards per season of each player, useable in Super Rare Divisions, but also available to use in Rare Pro (a maximum of 2 Super Rares in a Rare Pro team may be used), and are Blue in colour.
Unique - 1 card per season of each player, useable in Unique division and maximum of one Unique can be used in Super Rare division. They are Black / Brown in colour.
Overall, Sorare is a unique and innovative twist on the classic fantasy football game, using blockchain technology and NFTs to create a more immersive and engaging experience for players. Whether you're a hardcore football fan or just enjoy the strategic element of building and managing a team, Sorare is definitely worth checking out.
